This skill's short video goes here. What it does
This skill installs and organizes a website's measurement infrastructure: a Google Tag Manager container, a GA4 property, key funnel events, and a tag scan to detect duplicates or broken tags. It serves as the foundation before connecting ads, a CRM, or attribution tools.
When to use it
- When launching a new site or landing page with no tracking
- When there's a suspicion of duplicate tags or events that aren't firing
- When you need a clean tracking base before connecting Google Ads, Meta Ads, or a CRM like GoHighLevel
Steps
- Scan the site to detect existing, duplicate, or broken tags
- Create or clean up the Google Tag Manager container
- Configure the GA4 property and key events (lead, purchase, booked call)
- Verify each tag fires correctly in preview mode
- Document the event map so other tools (ads, CRM) connect without guessing
- Publish the container only after explicit user approval

--- name: web-tracking-setup description: Builds and audits a website's tracking infrastructure (GTM, GA4, tag scanning) before connecting campaigns or a CRM. --- # Web Tracking Setup ## 1. Purpose Leave a site with a clean, documented measurement base: Google Tag Manager, GA4, and an event map, ready for any other tool to connect frictionlessly. ## 2. Initial scan Scan the site for existing, duplicate, misconfigured, or dead tags before touching anything. ## 3. Google Tag Manager Create or clean up the container, organizing triggers and variables consistently. ## 4. GA4 Configure the property and key funnel events (lead, purchase, booked call), aligned with what the business actually measures. ## 5. Verification Test each tag in preview mode before publishing, confirming it fires at the right moment. ## 6. Documentation Leave a readable event map so Google Ads, Meta Ads, or a CRM like GoHighLevel can connect without guessing event names. ## 7. Safety rules - The container is only published after explicit approval. - Events or traffic volumes are never invented; everything is based on what the scan observed. - No API or account key is ever exposed in chat.
